Opening pool leak suspected. How do I track it down

It is possible and I am adding water now. Water level has never been this low at opening before. Is a gunnite pool and the water is down at the level of the returns. Suspect the circled return line because the others are all below the water line.

Opening pool leak suspected. How do I track it down

Water level in skimmers is higher than the pool suggesting to me it is on the return side and I think the half covered return even though capped must be the culprit. Would love an experienced perspective before I start digging.

Opening pool leak suspected. How do I track it down

I have been opening and closing my pool for the last 10 years with no trouble. My standard procedure is to blow air through all the lines at close plug them, and use antifreeze in the returns after blowing them as well. I took off the cover this morning to find the water level below the coping...

AO error Hayward h400 heater- cant troubleshoot

I get an AO error. I looked through the hayward manual. 120v to blower motor, 5ohms blower motoe resistance. I can get the heater to start by sucking and blowing on the vacuum hose. Heater runs fine for one minute then cuts out. The unit had a bd error and i have tried 2 different icb...

Newly plastered pool and plaster dust- many questions!

Hi Pool temp is 55 degrees in here in NJ. No chlorine has been added as I have read no shock in a new plaster pool. I have just added 4 tricolor pucks in now to slowly add cya. Pump is circulating continuously. Why is resistance increasing through the filter if the filter doesn't have DE...

Newly plastered pool and plaster dust- many questions!

10 days ago my 35000 gallon IG pool was re plastered using Pebblefina sapphire galaxy. The pool wash acid washed before filling. The pool looked very streaky after it was filled and after reading other posts and speaking with my plasterer, we decided to acidify the pool. He put in 3 pumps and...

When to use hi versus lo speed on 2- speed pump

I just installed a hayward super 2 2 speed pump to replace my old hayward super 2 1 speed pump. I wired a spdt toggle to control the speed as per suggestions here and it seems to be working well. I discovered my pump failure about 2 days after opening the pool. I have not yet backwashed and...

Need help wiring new hayward super ii dual speed pump

Just received my new super ii dual speed pump. It will be replacing a single speed pump and i see that there is no built in toggle switch to change motor speed. I will be wiring it to the same intermatic timer and was looking for simplest solution to help get this going. I was planning to use...

Motor on super II dies and I need advice

Super 2 pump with ust1202 motor died(it runs but cuts out after overheating)- 2hp with sf of 1.1. I am thinking about using a 1.5hp or 1hp motor to cut my electricity consumption. Do I need to change the impeller or just the motor and seals. I have a hayward 60sqft de filter, 2 skimmer...

Super II pump running very hot.

I have a 2hp super pump ii that i just noticed is running very hot, too hot to touch. The pump is about 11 years old and it is H rated and running. Today I cleaned the impeller which was only minimally dirty and changed the ceramic seals. I also tested the voltage to the pump and it is...

Hayward IG pool light not working

Can I test the unit by inserting a standard incandscent bulb? Last year I pulled the housing and there was water inside. I cleaned it up and now it is not working(I did not replace the gasket as I probably should have). I am waiting for a new gasket to come in but I want to make sure the...

    Ignition Failure

Re: Hayward H400 Ignition Failure I had the same issue that other have had and spent the day trouble shooting on a 12 yo h400. As others have mentioned the gas nozzles were clogged by insects. I took the whole thing apart which required disconnecting the gas valve. Rather than disconnect...

Closing down with 1 person- My solution

I think I devised a pretty slick way to close the pool my self. I removed the drain plug from the pump after lowering the pool level to just below the skimmers and replaced the 1/4 plug with a quick fit 1/4 inch air compressor plug. I plugged in my pancake compressor and hooked it up to the...
