What do I look for to determine pool's integrity?

Well, duh, I didn't think of that, but it only makes sense, thanks for the reminder and if it (when) it comes up I will definitely be here for help. 😀

What do I look for to determine pool's integrity?

Thanks Paul, Vinny and Mdragger, these replies give me confidence to continue on with the pool in apparently good condition. And maybe even replace the liner myself someday??? I'll guess there are online videos to get me through that job! There isn't any rust on the panels, only on a couple of...

What do I look for to determine pool's integrity?

Thanks, I think we'll just keep on keeping on. Walking around the outside I can see the entirety of wall and there are no signs of rust. Since I don't know how the wall panels are held together, I suppose they are joined somehow behind each panel's fiberglass column with no way to check those?

What do I look for to determine pool's integrity?

Our pool is now 18 years old, what should I be looking for to feel confident all is well and safe for next season as I close it down for the season? I'm referring to the pool structure, not the equipment like the pump, filter, SWG. I'm concerned some of the structure plastic/fiberglass is...

    What size SWG?

Tiger, I'm starting my 4th year with a Hayward/Goldline Aqua Troll HP. It is recommended for all Above Ground Pools up to 18K gals. My pool is 16.5K gals. I have not had an algae outbreak since I started using it. I do not baby sit my pool daily. You can image I am loving it. :) And no...

    Replacing Skimmer Gasket -Help needed

To wrap up this thread, I did remove the skimmer and replace it. The screws holding the skimmer to the wide mouth could only be reached by removing the widemouth from the pool. In the end it was no big deal, but going into it was frightning. It was totally uneventful and easy to replace...

    Replacing Skimmer Gasket -Help needed

Do I really have to take off the top rail and peel back the liner? I don't understand how these things fit together. I need to find a picture. Thanks for all advice. Steve

    Replacing Skimmer Gasket -Help needed

Well, I pryed and pulled and low and behold found 2 screws in the bottom of the skimmer holding it fast to the wide mouth. These 2 screws do not have any access for me to get to them without removing the wide mouth from the pool, SO, what are the dangers of removing the wide mouth skimmer and...

    Replacing Skimmer Gasket -Help needed

Thanks Mike. I'm gonna go for it and pry it apart. As is, I can't use the pool 'cause it leaks too bad. If I break it, it will cost me more, either way I can start using the pool. Wish me luck!!!

    Replacing Skimmer Gasket -Help needed

I'm not able to take pictures of it, but if anyone is familiar with a Wide mouth skimmer perhaps they know if it is possible to have screws on top and bottom of the regular skimmer where it mounts to the wide mouth. I don't see anyway possible for there to be screws on the top and bottom due to...

    Replacing Skimmer Gasket -Help needed

Hi all, I opened the pool to find the skimmer gasket leaking. It's the gasket between the wide mouth skimmer and the regular skimmer attached to it. Looking from the pool into the skimmer I see 4 screws that hold the skimmer onto the wide mouth. I removed these 4 screws (2 on each side) and...

    Ph increase with SWG

My pool is 3 years old, but I only added SWG this year in June. I had to drop the Alkalinity from 290 down to 90 and did so by July 10 and since then I have had rock steady pH of 7.6. That's 5 weeks of steady pH. It's been so steady, I'm thinking something is wrong. I have used AquaChem...
