Sand filter is sending dirty water back into the pool

Thoughts on the water coming out of the backwash port when the MPV is in Close (or Recirc)? Bad spider gasket?

Sand filter is sending dirty water back into the pool

2-3 minutes for a backwash, plus 30 seconds or so for the rinse.

Sand filter is sending dirty water back into the pool

Here is the situation. This is a second year AGP with SWG, and this year the water has been A to A- all summer. The water's been really good, but the bottom of the pool constantly has this stuff that I have debated over and over whether it is pollen/dirt, or mustard algae. This started at the...

    This morning's test results

8-10% of CYA levels seems like a good target, thanks!

    Yes, exactly what I did.

    This morning's test results

Curious... the Chlorine/CYA table in Pool School says min of 3, target 4. PoolMath says to target nearly twice that at 7-9. Which should I trust?

Target FC for SWG - Pool School Recommendation or PoolMath?

Wait, the Daily Target in PoolMath is intended for non-SWG pools? Can I suggest we add a statement in there, as I have been confused on this point.

    Wanda the whale vacuum problems

I plug mine into the skimmer over the pool wall to prevent the hose from kinking. I'm not sure why the instructions suggest to put the filter in backwash mode for cleaning. I leave mine in filter mode until done, disconnect Wanda, then backwash according to the filter instructions.

    This morning's test results

Happy Saturday everyone! FC = 4.0 CC = <0.5 pH = 7.4 TA = 75 CH = 210 CYA = 55 Seems like my CYA has dropped some over the past few weeks, is this typical? It also looks like I have to run my SWG and pump close to 16 hours a day to keep the FC up. :(

Question on output from Aqua Trol T-Cell-5

Sounds like I need to a) get the FC up to 5 or 6 this evening and get a reading and shut the SWG off. b) check FC in the morning to make sure any loss was <0.5 and keep the SWG off. c) check FC in the evening to get an idea of the 24 hour FC loss, then adjust the SWG based on 6.2 ppm per day...

Question on output from Aqua Trol T-Cell-5

For #1, I think I found about 0.65 lb per day? Does this sound right?

Question on output from Aqua Trol T-Cell-5

Two questions: 1) Does anyone know the output of chlorine from the Aqua Trol T-Cell-5? 2) Is there a lower demand on the SWG if the FC level is maintained at say 6 ppm compared to a lower ppm? IN other words, is it easier to maintain at 6 as opposed to 2? Maybe FC loss rate is lower at a...
