You might get a better answer from someone more knowledgeable.....but if I don't rinse after backwashing, cloudy water comes out of the jets. I always rinse until I see the water is clear....sometimes that takes 30 seconds, other times it can take 2 minutes.....

algae Thanks very much....will get a test kit this evening.....have been using bleach for last full week....am brushing and backwashing constantly. I write more when I get numbers....thanks

Had my inground pool for over 12 years....I've dealt w/algae before by using a strong algaecide and it went away within 24 hours This year I had horrible algae like never before (we had 6 straight weeks of rain here in Texas). In one month I've spent $600+ and still can't swim. Pool shops...
