    Chlorine Too Low

Hi, I can use a little help with figuring my chlorine problem out. When I first opened my pool 5 gallons of liquid chlorine (hypochlorite) was used. When the water cleared I added 24 oz of powdered shock and noted that 2 days later I didn't have a CL reading. I added about 64 oz of shock and...

    Replacing Tiles

Ahhh!!! Another pool season starting. The cover is off the pool and the water is circulating. I've noticed that I'm missing a set of tiles just below the coping. Either when the water clears enough or if I could find the spares I will need to replace the tiles. Here's the question: Should I use...

How much water should one lose to evaporation?

A few years ago I was losing inches per day. After a while the problem became worse. There were tell-tale signs that I needed a refinishing because tiles were coming off and falling into the pool and even though I would reapply the tiles I was steadily losing tiles. Pentair Filter Question

I had a pentair FNS+ 48 gallon filter tank installed at the end of last year. At the end of the season I expect to clean out the grids. Typically, I'll empty all the water from the tank using the drain plug at the bottom of the tank. the drain plug points directly down and when it was installed...

    Pool Pump Specs Confusion

A big thank you to everyone. I applied some force to the screws holding the housing in place. Seems they were tight from years of being on. Got to the capacitor. Replaced it for $16 and so far things seem like they are running smoothly. Another happy pool owner.

    Pool Pump Specs Confusion

Can't seem to get the housing off of the capacitor. Both screws turn left to right only a smidgen. It's as if there's a lock on them or something. I didn't want to force it.

    Pool Pump Specs Confusion

One of the suggested replacements is a Pentair Superflo VS. A quick search tells me that its a good replacement for a 1.5HP pump. But there soooo pricey. Installed > $1500
