High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

Thats correct - when I had the 2607 impeller on, the motor was pulling about 14.5 amps. I did not let it run very long since it wasn't pulling enough water to fill the reservoir. I have actually put the 2610 impeller back on because the 2607 would not draw enough water to prime the pump. Huge...

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

Yes, when everything is put together the impeller spins freely. The breaker that was tripping is a 20A GFCI breaker. That is on the 220 circuit. I am now running the pump on a 110 circuit, a GFCI outlet. That circuit has never tripped. Therefore I have concluded that I have a problem in...

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

I did have the 2610 impeller. I swapped it out with the 2607. Result was that it would not prime , even with the reservoir nearly full at startup. I had no suction at the far slimmer basket. So it would not create enough flow. Additionally it only dropped the amperage on the motor to 14.5...

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

Thanks much! The total hp is 1.1. Hp is 1.1 and sf is 1.0. It may be a while till I can take it apart to get the impeller PN but I’ll do that for sure.

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

When i replaced the motor initially last year, I replaced it with the same total hp as the old motor that stopped working. I do not know what the pump model or impeller part number is. They are the same as when I bought the house - have not been changed. This morning, I swapped out my 110V...

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

Roger that. Will get that in place right away. This all makes sense. At 115 v the current draw will most likely come below the rated level - confirms that there is an issue in the wiring of my 220 circuit. I just have to isolate and fix that. Thanks to everyone - you have all been very...

Not sure the gage of wire but could only be 16 ga

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

Voltage at the outlet is 120 so I’m good there. The extension cord is 100 ft and is a 15amp rated cord so probably undersized for the amount of power the pump is drawing.

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

I can’t really check that now since I’m temporarily using an extension cord to power the pump - not going through a switch or timer

JamesW - I may have replied at the wrong place on the thread. Voltage is 107.

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

From what JamesW said that’s low. What would cause that? This is a brand new motor by the way.

I haven’t checked the voltage. Will do that.

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

James - thanks! So I believe there is a wire problem in the normal 220 circuit the pump is on. So now I have it running on 110 using an extension cord plugged into a GFCI protected outlet. The motor is correctly wired for 110 - moved the plug to the 110 spot and verified neutral and hot are on...

High current draw - Hayward Super Pump

Basics - 28,000 gal in-ground pool. 1 HP motor rated at 6.6A at 220V and 13.6 A at 110V. Built in 1989. Owned house last 5 years. Problem - after I had the pool opened two weeks ago, everything ran fine. 2 days later had problem with circuit breaker blowing. I've isolated that problem to...
