It does seem to be stripped since it spins freely and does not tighten. I'll take it apart and check again. So, is there a way to replace the mounting plate without replacing the entire pump housing? Thanks

Water is above the skimmer so no air is getting in that way. Water level is stable. I'm wondering if the air could be getting in at/around the pump. It seems sealed and no water is leaking around the pump. No water spurts when shutting off the pump. Thanks for the help

It is an in-ground pool. Initially, there is no air in the basket but the level falls once I turn it on.

Well - I checked and lubricated the spider gasket. The filter drain cap was a little looose and leaking a little bit. The system is filtering without losing water through the waste line. Hopefully, problem solved. Thanks

It's hard to know. I don't have a clear section of the waste line. There is a small glass bottle attached to the base of the multi port valve near the waste line but I can't tell if there is water flowing through it.
