    Pool Replaster....Post Freeze Damage!

Have same issue with spa plaster. Spa drained to the returns after pre-emptive shut down of pad EQ. Was having issue before storm and no chance to test changed out check valve flap. Pool not quite ready for re-start, so not sure spa will hold water above current level. Supposed to drop to 30...

3 day deep freeze, how to protect the pool

I think a lot us feel the same pain. I really thought I could make it based on pool condition this morning. But rolling blackouts were the ender. Our house has been fortunate so far, but only a matter of time. Think it is best decision. Spoke with 2 pool service companies today. All in agreement...

How are my fellow Texans doing this morning lol

Question: I have suction side cleaner. The wall fitting has vacuum safety lock. I have had it open while running via hose with filter. Cleaner in garage. Once I shut down, can I just pull hose and let safety lock close?

How are my fellow Texans doing this morning lol

Am getting ready to shut it down. Haven't been hit with blackout yet, but I assume it will come today, tomorrow... Would rather work outside with some sun and get it done. Would keep it going if I had confidence in power remaining through the night.

Few days of below freezing temp. What to do?

Am still running pump for now. Question is if I am forced to drain pad EQ, what about spa? Should spa drain valve be closed? I opened a bit yesterday and now thinking should not have done so.

Any thoughts on icicles hanging from pvc fountain jets? Jets running fine, just ice hanging off pipe. About 12-18 inches long.

How are my fellow Texans doing this morning lol

Have debated all day whether to pull plug. So many variables. Power loss, evaporation, and if water will even continue to flow with temps in single digits to zero. Everything is covered. Heavy tarp over exposed pipes. Heater and filter also covered and have one more tarp over all of that. I did...

How are my fellow Texans doing this morning lol

I ran autofill yesterday after it warmed a bit, but seeing the effects of evaporation already. Really don't want to push my luck with running it again or trying to use outside spigot. Will keep an eye on pool level for sure. I have had a crazy thought of running hose from washer spigot. Have a...

    FREEZING in Texas with fountains!

I have thought about using RV antifreeze. I could only find 2 gallons yesterday. Says to use a gallon per 10 feet of pipe. Not sure I have enough. Plus wouldn't I need to plug the jets? Am considering just shutting them off if water starts freezing at jet opening. Hopefully only impact would be...

    FREEZING in Texas with fountains!

Really unsure about how easy it is to shut off and be sure it is drained. There is a jandy valve that will shut off flow to those fountains. But did notice them dripping a little back in warmer days with valve closed. Not sure if diverter is totally sealing water flow. Am weighing that risk over...

    FREEZING in Texas with fountains!

I too have fountain jets powered by circulating pump. Pondering what may happen later this weekend with temps headed to single digits. The jets can be shut off via jandy valve. Valve old and not overly confident in diverter to do its job. BTW, equipment is covered with heavy tarp, all valves...
