Last year, I had an issue maintaining Free Chlorine. :(My Pool Guy said, I should just empty the pool and add fresh water. I opened the pool yesterday only to find a layer of green algae covering the bottom. Also, Zero FC. I added 2 lbs of Clorax Pool Shock. Water is still green and now cloudy...

I was using a bioguard test strip (only added bleach to pool) Show's green for bromine and purple for FC chlorine.

Put in 2 qts of liquid bleach - tested with Bioguard strips show ok levels of FC & Bromine also tested with DPD kit and Chlorine was at 3.0 and PH was 7.4 Does this mean FC is at 3 now and is it safe to swim in?
