Forgot to pull plug on sand filter

As the title suggests, I forgot one thing while closing last fall. I left the drain plug on my hayward sand filter still screwed on with water inside.... The filter mode selector was placed between selections, not put down in winter mode. Plumbing lines leading to and from the filter were also...

    Algae, dead algae or dirt?

I will apologize now for the incomplete information in this situation. If a definitive answer is not available, I understand. I am posting for a friend. I have not seen the pool myself yet. He has an above ground 10k gallon with sand filter and gas heater. Small gobs (coin sized or smaller)...

Plumbing and installation of Natural Gas Heater

Hey everyone, I have a variety of questions I hope you all could help me with! I'm installing a Hayward h200FDN natural gas heater. Gas installer is doing the line, connection, pressure test, etc. I am doing the plumbing and electrical. I am also considering getting a new pump. 1. Does the...

How much water loss over winter is okay?

Inground 16x32, winter cover on from October to May (today) I drain my pool to a fairly specific spot each year I think. I'd say I was about 4 inches under that. Is that amount of water loss normal?

    Suction side leak

I ignored my lazy desire to try some JB weld and replaced with cpvc and glue. Turns out the elbow joint had cracked. Waiting for glue to cure before seeing if I did it right. The last joint I didn't get in more than half way before the cement dried in place too hard to move.

    Suction side leak

Water is shooting out the bottom of the vertical black poly piece going into my skimmer where is meets the elbow. I replaced clamps and tightened them really good but that did not stop the leak. What's next? Replace the whole section? It would be a mighty big pain to dig more out and start...

    Suction side leak

Started digging it out today. Not totally done yet, but enough to know that my leak is definitely at the base of the skimmer. Getting quite wet down there. It also looks like I'll definitely have access to the leak. Most of my skimmer is not incased in cement. I know very little about pool...

    Suction side leak

I'm not extremely keen on cutting into my concrete. I'd have to do a lot of researching and video watching to feel comfortable that I could put it all back. I have open dirt behind my skimmer. Would my plumbing be accessible from behind?

    Suction side leak

Hey everyone. I've been keeping track of some significant, off and on water loss this season. Kept thinking maybe it was just a day or two of big evaporation and ignoring the feeling that something was wrong. Anyways, little to no water is lost when pump is on. Water levels drop when pump is...

    Repurposing a hot tub pump

My expertise with pumps is kind of limited, so maybe this is a dumb question. I have a 5 bhp pump from an old hot tub. Could I book that up and use that for my sand point well?

    New and concerned

Liquid Chlorine is just a stronger concentration of bleach. Bigger bang for your buck if you can get your hands on it. Regular bleach is fine, as long as it is plain bleach. No additives or improved formulas or anything.
