New to site- Bucket Test for Chlorine Demand and 0 CYA- Am I on the right track?

Hello and Welcome! To fix your problem you will need to SLAM your pool. To do that you will need to accurately test your pool water. How did you get your posted test results and what type of pool test kit do you have? Have you started reading in Pool School? Have you read this thread...

Turning a Green swamp Blue, already started. Now I'm here.

Welcome to TFP! Suggestions? You might want to go back to school. Click the pool school button near the top right corner of this page and start reading. We don't use a lot of pool store chemicals here. We don't need them. If you stick around, you will find out you don't need them either and...

Ool Newbie - Notice there's no "P" in it?

Have you found out the CYA with your test kit yet? You really need that information before you start your SLAM. If you are going to have to drain and refill your pool, you should do it before wasting any chemicals in water you will eventually drain.

Just found out about TFP, here to give pool gurus a good challenge.

If you can, you should get one of these :lookhere: Leaf Rake

    TA is low

Why not see if your pH will stabilize at 7.6 or 7.8 with a TA of 70 or 80? It could be that your TA is falling because of your constant additions of muriatic acid to keep your pH at 7.4. My TA was around 110 until I held my pH at 7.2 with muriatic acid for about a week. At the end of the week...

    Just starting TFPC

Hello verna and welcome to TFP! I am not sure what you mean by PC but if that stands for pool chemicals you don't need to get those from the pool store. You can get probably everything you need from Walmart and or your local hardware store and save some money. Your test kit does not have the...

Aha!!! Algae might be a small problem but your biggest problem is..............Pool Store Testing!!!! If you are just going by what the pool store told you, you really don't know how high your CYA might be. If you really want to get better control of your algae problem, I would take the...

Encouragement for Newbies! Mesh cover off to swimming in 36 hours! Hang in there!!

Thanks Maria. I was thinking of power washing with bleach but was concerned that it might bleach out the color of the concrete. I think I will rent a power washer from Home Depot and give it a try.

Encouragement for Newbies! Mesh cover off to swimming in 36 hours! Hang in there!!

Hi Maria. Your pool deck looks very similar to mine. Except my deck doesn't look nearly as clean as yours. What or how to you keep it so clean? That pool does look refreshing!

    My pool guy quit!

If I disconnect the gas line would I be able to just pick up the heater and move it or is the heater somehow anchored to the pad? What are you thoughts on putting a bypass for both the heater and filter while treating the pool. It looks like I have room for that when I cut out the Nature 2 system.

OK, here we go. FIRST TEST!

Another option besides a drain/refill is Reverse Osmosis. Click this link: :lookhere:Reverse Osmosis

    My pool guy quit!

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think about moving the heater. I ran outside and took a look. This is what I found. If I move the heater I guess I would have to disconnect the gas line right? Also I was reading another thread the other day and learned what a Nature 2 system is and guess...
