    Testing a Hayward SP3400VSP pump

For anyone else looking for this. I emailed Hayward support. They said I have to buy a new controller to test the motor. There is no way to test it without the controller. So, now I have to decide whether to risk 500$ on just a controller, or buy a whole new pump....

    Testing a Hayward SP3400VSP pump

On Friday my Hayward 3400VSP tripped both the 20AMP circuit on the pool pad and the 70AMP breaker in the main panel. I checked all the wiring and turned everything back on to find that the control panel lit up and worked, but the pump did not startup. I got the manual and went through the...

Should I fill new pool from hydrant or hose from house

I asked my PB to fill my pool with the hydrant and was told that the pressure from the hydrant would mess up the new plaster. They even wrapped a rag around the end of the hoses to reduce the output. I gave my neighbor some cash and some baked goods, and borrowed his hose.

    AquaQuik SolarPRO solar collectors

I would like to extend my swimming season. I was using SunGrabber panels on a custom built rack, but it was ugly, the panels didn't lat flat etc etc, so I took them down. I can't put anything on my roof because I have a solar electric system, so I am looking for a cleaner solution that takes up...

    Sungrabber panels 2 years later...

I bought a set of these a couple years ago as well and ran into the same issues. I installed mine on a custom rack. They would sag, never lay flat. I have pulled mine down and rolled them up. I don't think I'll be using them this season while I work out what I want to do. My dad suggested...

New VSP (EcoStar) w/ Aquapure 1400

Just in case anyone else needs this. I was able to easily wire the Aquapure back into the timer, and sync it with the higher RPM timers in the VS pump. It seems to work pretty well as long as the timers stay in sync. I'll watch it over the next week or so and see if it causes any issues. I the...

how to control IntelliChlor IC40 w/Current Control Relay

Good idea! I need to do this same thing with my EchoStar and Aquapure. Any suggestions on where to get the relay and socket? I checked Granger, but they don't have the specific relay... Thanks

New VSP (EcoStar) w/ Aquapure 1400

Could I wire the AquaPure into the old digital timer, and configure the timing to match the pump? Do you have any suggestions for a simple automation system that can interface with the Aquapure and the EcoStar?

New VSP (EcoStar) w/ Aquapure 1400

I just had a new EcoStar VSP installed to replace my 1.5HP Jandy Stealth. The timer that was being used to control the old pump and SWG was taken out of the equation. The SWG is now "on" all the time, but not really doing anything unless there is flow (?). This morning, the SWG threw flow errors...

    Shocking with high CYA levels.

Hey guys, I think I have the chlorine taken care of. The chlorine smell was pretty strong for a day, but it's gone now, and the water is clear. Now I can't get my TA down. I have been adding enough MA to bring the PH from 7.2 to 7.0 for a couple days (usually about 2p at a time)...

    Shocking with high CYA levels.

Yea, I am still going to shock the pool tonight.

    Shocking with high CYA levels.

I have to tell you guys, the recommended Tayler test kit is AWSOME! It turns out my local Leslie pool had some in stock. I wish I had known about this kit when my pool was installed, no guessing, just numbers. I really like making decisions based on measurable fact, instead of color matching and...

    Jandy AquaPure "Sensor T"

I am having an intermittent issue with the sensor pack on my SWG. The sensor pack is not in the "Sensor" T. When I added solar to the pool, I re-plumbed with a 2x2x2 T with a reducer bushing, and didn't buy the 22$ PVC T. The question is, do I need to use Jandy's T? Thanks

    Shocking with high CYA levels.

I have been reading the suggested docs for a couple days, problem is, all of the numbers in my pool that are off are hard to adjust. I am working on lowering TA. It was highter (190). My CH is about 300ppm, I would like to get it lower, but we are in the middle of a drought in CA, so...

    Shocking with high CYA levels.

Thanks Guys, helps a lot. I don't usually shock with the SWG, only did it to verify that it was making clorine. I am testing the PH and AK with an All Clear kit, but I am out of CL reagent, so I used test strips and an AquaCheck read for the FC number, it doesn't give numbers for CC, and TC...
