    Old claggy DPD powder

Is this a coincidence? I ordered a new clear choice labs test kit last night because my dpd powder had turned into a sticky lump of purple chewing gum and my test tube has dark purple cancer spots too. My kit is 1.5 years old and has run out of other chemicals anyway so it needed to be replaced.

    Strange goo in filter

Could iron bacteria be used to remove iron from pool water?

120V AC to 12V AC transformer question

Hi. Your total load is currently 100 watts. You therefore require a transformer with a minimum rated output of 100watts. The next time you replace a light you may need to reassess, alternatively you might plan ahead and double your requirement and get a transformer with rated output of 200watt now.

Hayward ECommand not keeping time: updated DIY repair guide

Hi trappinator. Good work fixing it, you saved yourself some $$$ and you helped the environment a little too! Tips: If you are removing a legged IC that you have no intention of salvaging, heat each leg once and pull/bend to remove it from the pad. Alternatively if you are going to remove the...

Here's one for The Coffee Bar...

The inside of a beehive would probably be a shock to most people. I collected two swarms last week, but some p.o.s thief stole the brand new box containing one of the swarms...

    PH level and water heaters

My situation is similar so I am very interested... How will the heater (and any other equipment for that matter) be affected having fc consistently above the 'recommended' range, and mostly just below the 'slam' level?

Does anyone REALLY own a pool?

I have my old single scull, which should fit in my pool (not including the oars though) maybe one day if I'm REALLY bored I will put it in my pool for kicks...

DE spilled into pool when recharging after backwash

DE would be very abrasive if it gets in your eyes. Perhaps wear goggles till you have cleaned up?

    Frog in Pump Basket?!

There you go. Assuming you have a filter, it would be highly improbable for a frog to get into your pump from the return.

    Frog in Pump Basket?!

    Do you have floor drains?

Shotcrete pool built without radius where pool walls meet floor

Square corners is actually a thing. pb told me they are considered a "high end" feature for modern pools. People pay extra for that.

    Sheer not consistent

The long sheers I have seen have 2 water entries (one either side) in order to get sufficient flow. I can imagine that if one of those entries was blocked accidentally, or blocked/disconnected/not used purposely then you would probably get more flow on one side. Was it plumbed correctly?

    DIY build in Biloxi

Hi. My guess is to prevent dirty muddy water entering the pool when there is unprecedented heavy rain much like what we have had these last 2 years. I built mine 200mm above the highest point (mine is concrete though) and can say it is one of the smartest things I have ever done.

    Ozone with or without saltwater

Hi rteen. Your swimmers will wear out faster. Potential embarrassing moment during a pool party 😉
