Adapting 1.5 inch vacuum hose to skimmer intake port.

Thank you pool man I will order it and give that a try. I am a bit concerned because in the description it says "Fits into 1-1/2" or 2" port skimmers. Accepts 1-1/2" pool hose connector or 1-1/2" regulator valve end." The diameter of my skimmer intake port is 2 1/4 inches. Is my skimmer...

Adapting 1.5 inch vacuum hose to skimmer intake port.

I just purchased a vacuum head with a 1.5 inch vacuum hose so I can manually vacuum my pool. I tried using one of those vacuum plates over my skimmer basket and got no suction doing this. My suspicion is the vacuum plate does not create a good seal against the basket. This seems to me to be a...

    Borate Drop test

JoyfulNoise can you please tell me if the 50 ml beaker you link to at Amazon in your instruction set for the Mannitol test for borates has a diameter that fits on the speedstir? It seems that the 50 ml beaker on Amazon has a 2 inch diameter and the speedster is designed for a 1.25 inch...

    Borate Drop test

A few days ago when i was browsing the TFP web site I found a post describing a way to test for borates using a drop test utilizing some of the reagents in a TF-100 test kit, a large beaker that sits on a speedster, a speedster and additional reagents available on Amazon. It also included links...

    Corroded Water Heater

I wish I had saved the old part Swampwoman but unfortunately it got tossed. I too have soft water and have always had to add calcium to get it up to 130 ppm. My tap water has a CH of around 70 ppm. It does seem odd that scale formed on the heating elements when my CH was so low. Who is the...

    Record rainfall and pool chemistry

I know you are right Patrick. I will check it in two weeks and if it has not increased very much I will try the method of hanging a sock with Cya in front of my return line. This would be the first time I have ever had to add Cya to my pool so I guess I better read up again on how to do that...

    Record rainfall and pool chemistry

Hello all, Chlorine 4 PH 7.4 TA 70 CH 250 CYA < 20 Borates (need to test. I just read about the new drop test and may give it a try because I don't trust my strips) I was amazed at how much the record rains in Northern California affected my pool chemistry. I admit that I did not keep up...

    Corroded Water Heater

I don't know what the material is but if I ever have to replace one again I will insist that it is Titanium.

    Corroded Water Heater

There was scale on the heating elements and some rust and corrosion on the housing around the area of the temperature sensors. The repairman who replaced it said that it would possibly start to leak from the corrosion.

    Corroded Water Heater

James the repairman tossed it. I only saved the temperature sensors in case i needed spare ones.

Any update to the "How to use chlorine in your hot tub" sticky that would help clarify proper hot tub chemistry would be greatly appreciated. I know I have relied on that sticky extensively for maintaining my hot tub and I assume many others on this web site do as well. JoyfulNoise mentioned...

    Corroded Water Heater

Patrick I use the dichlor then bleach method as recommended in the "How to use chlorine in your hot tub" sticky. My PH tends to rise due to the use of the hot tub jets and I don't overshoot with my addition of muriatic acid to cause the PH to be too low. I was surprised when the hot tub tech...
