    Need help with TA/Ph

Great idea. ? I never really thought about that- I always thought of partially draining and refilling the pool as a way to lower TA - but I suppose in my case that method won’t work for me.

    Need help with TA/Ph

Okay- the tests are in! I tested this morning and again tonight and got essentially the same results. FC- 4 CC-0 TA-175 (I may or may not have let an extra drop squeak by) pH-7.8 CH- 250 CYA-50 both this morning and tonight I got a pH of 7.8 so a I think my 7.0 was an error. I can’t...

    Need help with TA/Ph

Thanks for the several replies. I’ll respond as best as I know. Jblizzle- I have never tested our well water (we don’t use tap- we have a well we fill from). I’ll test it today and report back. JamesW- I’m using muriatic acid to lower pH, liquid bleach/chlorine for sanitizing. I agree...

    Need help with TA/Ph

FC-3 CC-0 CYA-40 pH 7.0 (or lower) TA- 150 we’ve had a lot of rain lately so I expected my pH to be up. Rain quit this afternoon and after I tested I was super surprised it had gotten so low. I also discovered my TA has drifted up to 150 from 100 when I checked it last. Is my TA too high...

    Do I add CYA?

I definitely cannot claim that the monthly UV on my pool can compare to AZ or S NV. I was just wanting to check if my understanding of how UV effects my pool here in MN was accurate or not. Here in MN, how much average FC loss due to UV should I expect then?

    Do I add CYA?

Really? So, in MN (yes it can get warm here... haha) CYA is not effected by sunlight? I always thought it was, especially since my pool gets full sun most of the day. At any rate- One question was cleared up. I recalculated my pool volume using the calculator tool here...

    Do I add CYA?

With straight pool water and no reagent it is a tiny bit cloudy (as opposed to crystal clear), but then again, the pool as a whole is quite cloudy too. I'm pretty sure of pool volume (based on when I measured last winter)- but maybe I should double check. Math was never my strongest subject...

    Do I add CYA?

Just checked cya- I must have overshot the first time or something because even after replacing some water my CYA reading is around 55! (My goal was 30). Could something else be making the water artificially cloudy and thus skewing my reading?

    Haha! ?. thanks!

    Do I add CYA?

I'm in the middle of my very first SLAM and it's going pretty well (at least I hope it is). I think I need to give a little background before my question: Before really starting to SLAM I did some blind vacuuming and raking to get a bunch of the crud out. Because of how fast my DE filter...

What did you do to your pool today?

Finally finished my mega patch job and started to re-fill then had to stop to fix a leak on the pool heater- I missed an O-ring. Went to hardware store, came back and replaced I-ring and starting toner-fill again.

    Large hole patch-repair

That was exactly what I needed. Thank you. One more question. Is there a favorite adhesive to use with a big job like this? What did you use? I've seen a couple references to a #700 Boxer Vinyl Adhesive, but I'm curious how that's different from anything else (like the stuff that comes with...

    Large hole patch-repair

Sure enough- it’s an overlap. Looks like someone before me had the same idea. I have some of the vinyl adhesive glue from a repair kit (the mind for smaller holes). Will that be sufficient or should I get something else?
