    Why Use a Pillow?

From personal expierence ... think of your pool as a giant Tupper Wear container that has plastic wrap over the top of it. Now poor a cup of water on top. Where does it settle? By keeping the center elevated you force the water to the outter edges of the pool along with any leaves and junk...

Might as well close the pool!

I can count how many times i have been in the pool this summer .... ON ONE HAND, and i opened early! LOL I like warm water ( 78*+) and my poor half shaded pool never got above 80*. That's with a solar cover on most of the summer! We really didn't have to use the AC much this year either. In...

How much chlorine do you put in daily?

on average 60oz of 7.86% every couple days. Brings me from a 1.5 back up to a 4.5 and i'm good for a couple more days. My CYA is around 35 and i'm thinking of bringing that up to around 45 to 50. 1/2 the pool is shaded all day.

    Bleach Prices 2014

I'm guessing that different states have different rules as to what percentage chemicals can be. i say this because i have looked high and low at the local big chain suppliers ( WalMart, HomeDepot, Lowes ) and i can't get any higher then 7.86% in a off the shelf bottle. Even the $2.98 for the...

Just so i understand ... if the CC is high the pool is still "sick"? Meaning it is still trying to clear itself, correct? A quick test this morning showed a FC reading of 16 and a CC of around 6. The pool was the cleanest it has been in year this morning .... almost crystal clear. I have had the...

I have not yet purchased my test kit yet. Pool is almost clear. I had the water tested at the local pool store. FC was off he charts which screwed the CC level. pH is alright and CYA is around 10 but i'm waiting to see what it is by the end of this week. I'm almost there ... and i have ya'll to...

As much as i need a good work out ... i deliver that "stuff" in the back ground and the lil shot glass there in the foreground for a living. Coming home after working to vacuuming is not my idea of fun, but i do find it relaxing. It is nice to see the pool coming along quickly, but now i want...

I would loved to take and post pics, but i got so wrapped up in cleaning it that i did not. My pool went blacker then a stroke at midnight Sat. to cloudy today. To say i SLAMMED it would be an understatement. No if i can just get past the cloudiness to clear i'll be set! I pulled 3 large...

For the Pool Gods here on TFP

I can not believe the amount of junk i am pulling out of this pool! I have a pile of leaves large enough for a small child to play in, and i have to back wash the filter about every hour or 2. The pressure hits about 20 PSI and time to dump all the black stuff out. The wash out comes out...

so with temps hitting the 80s this weekend ( not the 70s that was predicted earlier this week ) i figured i would get a jump start on the adding of the CYA with the cover on last night. I have 2 socks with 2#s each and another 2#s in the filter itself. As i ran the pool with the cover still on...

TY everyone. This is one approach i didn't think of ... getting the Ph and CYA up BEFORE removing ( stirring up ) the leaves and gunk on the bottom. Basically add just a bit more water and fire the pump up. Because i work M - F from 6am to sometimes 8pm i am afraid that it will take Sat & Sun...
