    Thanks for the responses. I thought it would not work. I was hoping someone knew of an adapter plate for this purpose. Oh well, looks like I'll buy the $500 56J instead of the $238 48Y.

    I have an old Hayward super 2 pump with a broken marathon 2 hp dual speed motor that has a 56J frame. I found a A.O. Smith BN61 motor that looks like it would work fine, except it has a X45Y frame. Is there any way to fit a X45Y frame to a 56J compatible pump?
