    Damaging plaster in my pool?

Thanks all for the assistance!! I got my CSI down to -0.01 by increasing the TA and CH. I will try to hang at that level for awhile and see how things go. Pool water always looked great but it looks even better now after the adjustments.

    Damaging plaster in my pool?

I can check the pH, TA and CH of my fill water tomorrow. That is something I never thought to check. Why would water temperature change in the winter cause trouble? Thanks!!!

    Damaging plaster in my pool?

I am adding liquid chlorine. Never used tablets or dichlor powders. My pH rises in my pool. I have never had my pH lower on its own. - - - Updated - - - So raising the TA to 60 and the CH to 280 brings the CSI to -0.29. Is that a good place to be?

    Damaging plaster in my pool?

Hello all, These are the numbers below I have been maintaining for the past several years in my pool. My first year maintaining the pool on my own using the trouble free method, I was in a constant battle to keep the TA within the recommended levels. I felt I was wasting a lot of $$ on baking...

    My friends think I'm nuts...

So true DaninFLA. A co-worker of mine bought a house with a pool last year. I sent him the links to TFP website...pool school, chem 101, and told him to avoid the pool stores as they have an agenda and if he had any questions I would be more than happy to help. A few months went by, one day I...

    Liquid Chlorine

Year around you can get 4 gallons of 10% liquid chlorine from Pinch a Penny in the $9 to $10 range. That is the only thing I buy at Pinch a Penny and it is always fresh. Plus less annoying having to deal with all those empty bleach bottles. But I suppose it could be worth it for some to save...

A friend of mine has a second home and has used the puck method for 12 years.

In August when it rains almost everyday, the water level of my pool easily becomes level with the deck, sometimes overflowing. I will drain the pool back down to skimmer level. However, when this is done, the CYA and calcium levels drop. This past summer my CYA dropped from 40 to 20. I bet...

    New Intermatic T104M

Problem solved. Thanks pool clown! After reading your last post it got me thinking and then I realized the old timer model and it was T103 which is a 120v timer. Went to Home Depot and exchanged out the 104 for the 103 and installed it this morning. Working perfectly! Whoever ran the...

    New Intermatic T104M

Thanks for the reply. Yes, both the white wires are attached to the #1 and #3 posts. I have the line from the power box screwed into post #1. In post #2 is the load wire going to the pump. I also have the jumpers connected. The pool pump powers on just fine. For some strange reason the...

    New Intermatic T104M

Hello all! So the Intermatic timer installed quit working. Not sure how old it was cause I bought it with the house but the gears were rusted up and were no longer turning but it has run perfectly fine for the past 2 years I have been in my home. I assumed the gears seized up so I purchased a...

    Tiny bubbles exiting return jets

The main drain is connected to the skimmer. There is only one hole and no diverter. I mentioned in my first post that there were no bubbles on main drain or skimmer but there actually are. Sorry about that. I did coat the valve with shaving cream and also where the pipe fittings are...

    Tiny bubbles exiting return jets

Filled the pool up to almost top of tile line with only a tiny crack now going into the skimmer inlet. If I fill anymore the water line will be above the inlet. Still a vortex and still bubbles?

    Tiny bubbles exiting return jets

There is a vortex when I pull the skimmer lid and look. I will add more water to see if this helps. Also, the shaving cream I should put around the crease where the 3 way valve unscrews or around the pipe fittings? I don't think the problem would be at the pump connection inlet as I screwed a...

    Tiny bubbles exiting return jets

Hi Guys! First post but been visiting this website for about 10 months now and it is just full of great info and gave me the confidence to fire my pool guy last April who towards the end I was paying $77 a month and he didn't even have the decency to skim my pool. Best choice I ever made...
