18 year old Polaris 280.... Buy a new one, 'upgrade' to another pressure side cleaner, or just keep repairing/rebuilding existing unit

Thank you! I’ve found if I get a finer bag my 280 will pick up anything, including fine pollen or sand. It climbs walls, almost too much. And doesn’t have scrubbers, obviously.

18 year old Polaris 280.... Buy a new one, 'upgrade' to another pressure side cleaner, or just keep repairing/rebuilding existing unit

I’ve replaced specific parts over the years and had Leslie’s do their rebuild but never did the whole thing. Just ordered a non OEM rebuild kit ($120) which I’ll use to replace most everything. Much cheaper than $600 for a new one. Especially since the body is in good shape for the age.

18 year old Polaris 280.... Buy a new one, 'upgrade' to another pressure side cleaner, or just keep repairing/rebuilding existing unit

I think I've been VERY lucky and have a Polaris 280 that is going on 18 years. Have done normal maintenance (tires, bearings, hose, etc) and it's still going but things are breaking more frequently. 1. New one is $600. Have they changed anything in the design that would be a plus (or minus) to...

Looking to add SWG to existing pool - help selecting equipment

I'm also looking to 'reinstall' a salt system after giving up a few years ago. A good resource I found (besides here, obviously) is Discount Salt Pool I realize they have a profit motive but I liked their comparison engine to different brands. So far I'm leaning towards Circupool.

Pool Service recommended adding CO2 Injection at same time as SWG. Do I need it?

So the control box was discontinued and replaced with the new one.... got it.

Pool Service recommended adding CO2 Injection at same time as SWG. Do I need it?

I'm not sure.. the cell is long gone but, if it helps, this is the controller. Now that I can see the link you posted - no, I did not have the EI

Pool Service recommended adding CO2 Injection at same time as SWG. Do I need it?

Thanks! The reason they are spec'ing the TruClear is they said the AquaPure had been discontinued. But it's still on the Jandy website so not sure why they're recommending one over the other. It looks like I had the 1400 model previously.

Pool Service recommended adding CO2 Injection at same time as SWG. Do I need it?

When the pool was originally built I had a Jandy AquaPure that worked well. I got tired of replacing cells so decommissioned that and now just use liquid chlorine. I'm considering installing a new SWG (Jandy TruClear) and the pool service company is recommending adding a CO2 injection system...

Drain pool using pump but the Polaris booster pump is activated when the main pump goes above a certain RPM. Will this damage the booster pump?

I currently have the Taylor K-1004 6-Way Test Kit for Free Chlorine, Total Chlorine, Bromine, pH (acid demand), Alkalinity (DPD) I saw the TFTestKits.net site. Is there an add on for my Taylor that would cover CYA or do you recommend replacing with one of their kits?

Drain pool using pump but the Polaris booster pump is activated when the main pump goes above a certain RPM. Will this damage the booster pump?

Thanks! I'll do a 50% drain and then adjust accordingly. All the folks here have been fantastic! THANK YOU!
