Being Blamed for Plaster Discolorations? Don't Get Hoodwinked

I admire what you guys are doing with this issue. It's so rare to see a non governmental agency taking it upon themselves to fight the good fight in industry on behalf of the consumer. Thank you very much. Sent from my SM-T530NU using Tapatalk

I'd like to understand rust stains better.

I can't at the moment. But I think I've seen rebar rust coming through and that's usually pretty severe looking compared to rust from any other source, right?

I'd like to understand rust stains better.

I'm wondering if there's anything that can go into a pool invisibly as a liquid (for example if someone put a small steel nut in a bottle of sodium hypochlorite, which might have dissolved in the bottle?) and then end up leaving a small but well defined rust stain.

Do they typically form in a certain pattern or shape? Are they pronounced individual spots of rust that stand out from the rest of the color of the pool, or is does that stain large areas of the pool all at once, (ie the typical iron staining)

I'd like to understand rust stains better.

I know the obvious things that will rust a pool. Hardware left sitting in one. Anything steel or iron. But what about other kinds of popular outdoor chemicals or products, or even indoor ones that might get left outside? Are there any dissolved forms of metals that could somehow cause a...

How often do you replace cartridges in Pentair Quad DE filter?

If they're holding the D.E. in, and you're getting adequate flow rates from your pump to the returns, I can think of virtually no reason to replace them other than your filter cycles have become painfully short. That seems unlikely with a Quad DE.

Cartridge filter losing flow after minutes.

Jamull, I'm curious if you have any kind of pool sweep for your pool, eve if it isn't attached at this time.

Trying to deal with troublesome stains. Seems like rust.

I've tried over and over again but none of the pictures get the color right. I need a better camera.

I guess you're just picking up new live algae real fast like bobo said. I always make a point to peek and feel between the pleats before they go back in. If you still have a full load of slime on them then you will have filtering issues like what you described.

Cartridge filter losing flow after minutes.

I think that slime you're feeling inside the pleats is your main issue. I would acid wash again. If you see it react and you get foam fluffing out from between the pleats, then you know you are getting rid of stuff you need to get rid of. I have seen the exact same thing happen because of...

"Acid Magic" buffered Hydrochloric Acid - any opinions?

So they attempted to junk up the acid with extra stuff just to make it more user friendly? Honestly I can't see a reason to pay more for it if it's just gonna achieve the exact same thing. It's really not that hard to deal with unless you have never seen it react, and don't have a good respect...

Trying to deal with troublesome stains. Seems like rust.

A couple weeks ago I noticed a bunch of small red spots in my pool. I've seen similar stains before and I got the sick feeling it was rust. This is a white plaster pool and I've heard rust in plaster is the worst to try to get rid of. I am trying to save the pumice stone as a last resort...

    Air in Returns and Filter

This topic was split from This thread for better response. Bama I'm curious what was found here? I am trying to figure out a problem that is very similar with a Dynamo Pool Pump. The basket is full of water when running, yet air is returning to the pool. The air is also constant from the air...
