Teledyne Laars LLD - another won't fire-up post

I don't know how I fixed it, but it is done. I went through some basic trouble shooting. In the process, I was disconnecting sensors, switches, etc. to measure ohms, volts, and whether they were open or closed. I felt better after I shut off the gas, disconnected the gas valve, measured...

    Hello

Had the first dip in the pool this evening on the northern plains. Pool on the north side of the property, so once the sun was blocked, it got chilly. Forgot to check the pool heater, and it ran up to 91 degrees, very nice. About $1 per degree was the cost of natural gas last year. Had the...

Teledyne Laars LLD - another won't fire-up post

Is the temperature sensor (used for temperature control) a resistance device, like a thermistor, or is it a junction device, like a thermocouple? https://premium.zodiacpoolsystems.com/~/media/c678e162f9c248908bf428f8ab038855.pdf

Teledyne Laars LLD - another won't fire-up post

Hi, I have a Teledyne Laars LLD heater running on natural gas. It would not fire up when I opened the pool for the season. It last ran in June 2015. Manual gas valve open. Checked 24V fuse. 24 volts at the fusible link, etc. It's not the pressure switch, it was a problem in the past, and I...

    Extending Pool Cover Life

Hello, I just installed a new Cover Pools SAVE-T COVER II® cover on my inground pool. The last one failed due to degradation of the webbing that attaches the pool cover to the rope that runs inside a track. Seven years old, no real complaints. The side of the cover that failed is the one...

    Ground-Fault breaker on new pump

I have experience with ground-fault from ancient history; some older motors had a lot of internal leakage and couldn't run on a ground-fault circuit. Same think with older transformers. I'm sure the technology has changed, but just checking.

    Ground-Fault breaker on new pump

Hello, I'm installing at new Pentair WhisperFlo WFDS-24 pump that will require a 110 Volt 15 Amp breaker. Do these motors trip Ground-Fault breakers do to leakage in the motor windings, etc., or will they run fine on a Ground-Fault breaker? Thanks!

Replace pump - Pentair vs Starite

In North Dakota - fairly low power costs. 7.4 cents per kwh. Maybe up to 8.5 cents; one of the lowest in the nation. Only real need flow changes is for vacuuming / cleaning versus circulation. Currently wired for 230V, wiring not a real issue - I have to replace the breaker panel - chlorine...

Replace pump - Pentair vs Starite

Local pool supply outfit only stocks single speed pumps... They are also higher priced. I could order a two speed for less than I can buy a single speed in town, would have to wait a couple of days.
