Aquadoc Stain & Scale chemical base

I’ve been fighting iron stains for the past several years, but it’s getting better every year with the combination of AA, polyfill, CuLator, sequestrants, and some dilution help via rain the past couple seasons where I’ve had to pump water out of the pool. I was just looking at sequestrants on...

Pool closed, water level over gizmo

Thanks for the note on order of removal. I’m pretty sure I’ve always unscrewed and removed the gizmos first but I’ll be even more mindful of this going forward. I can’t imagine the panic of watching a plug get sucked back down the pipes and hope I never have to!

Pool closed, water level over gizmo

Thanks for the feedback. I was just able to pull the plugs and neither are full. I was able to smell the antifreeze that was used during blowing them out. One of them actually made a sound like it was under a bit of vacuum that was released when I took the top off. So I think I’m safe, but...

Pool closed, water level over gizmo

I had my pool closed for the winter about 2 weeks ago and since then we’ve gotten several inches of rain. I was looking at my winter cover and noticed how much water was in the middle and realized the total level had risen a lot and I should pump it down. While I was getting my pump setup it hit...

Messed up installing seals with new motor

Yes, where the seal meets the pump housing and then on the impeller shaft as well. I’m sure some extra got on the face of the one in the housing as it was pressed in too. :cautious: Any suggestion on what to use to clean the seals? Thanks for the info. Sounds like I’ll be taking this back apart...

Messed up installing seals with new motor

I’d read this article before doing the seals which is why I knew I made a mistake once I saw that it was silicone lube. The article just says it won’t be as secure and that it could have an adverse effect on the seals over time. Based on that it doesn’t seem like this is a pull it apart tonight...

Messed up installing seals with new motor

I applied it to the shaft seals on the impeller and the other side it mates to.

Messed up installing seals with new motor

My old 1 HP Hayward Super Pump motor was overheating and I couldn’t figure out what was causing it so (after posting here for recommendations) I bought a new Pureline 1.5 HP variable speed motor a bigger impeller and a new seal kit. I just finished installing everything and came in the house to...

Hayward Super Pump overheating - fix or replace

Any thoughts on the 1.25hp Nidec you mentioned vs this 1.5hp Pureline? It’s available on Amazon for $440 so it’s just a bit more than the $400 I found the Nidec available for. Will the Pureline potentially last longer since it’d be running at an even lower percent of it’s maximum hp? I’m not...

Hayward Super Pump overheating - fix or replace

I’ve got a 1hp single speed Hayward Super Pump (SP1607Z1M) which overheated and shut off. After cooling down I was able to restart it but it felt like it was heating up again so I turned it back off. I’ve been trying to figure out what is causing it to overheat so I can decide if the motor needs...
