Keeping Pool Open over Winter b/c of Spa

Thank you for the article. It says "A low volume water body like a spa will heat up quickly enough to not matter." So that's good news!

I can definitely get a picture of the labeled valves. In the meantime, here's a picture of the underground plumbing to the valves. Does this make any sense to you?

Keeping Pool Open over Winter b/c of Spa

Thank you for your reply. That was what I was thinking. Luckily, we can heat just the spa by itself. I just wasn't sure about the chemicals. We do not have a pool cover- the pool company talked us out of getting one!

Keeping Pool Open over Winter b/c of Spa

This is our first winter with our pool! Our spa is situated in a corner of our pool and level with our pool, and I believe circulates through the same water as the pool. We live in NC, where the weather stays fairly mild over winter. Since we want to use the spa over winter, I feel like we...

The water is very clear, no sign of any problems. The FC also seems to be holding, but I'll do one more overnight test before I change the CYA. Thank you!

Thanks. If my CYA levels are not in the desired range on the chart, should I go ahead and start working towards those levels (60-90)?

Thanks, Texas Splash. My FCl is already at 8.5. Should I still add more chlorine?

Thank you, I will find the mineral cartridge and remove it, per your suggestion. I wrote down that the pool people wanted us to replace this every 6 months! I just went outside and verified it's the 1400. Is adding 2.2 ppm FC per day a good thing? What should I do with this information...

I have a Jandy Fusion Salt Sanitizer, Handy Nature 2 Mineral Cartridge, and 2 Handy 2.7hp variable speed pumps. I'm not sure if that's what you are asking- I don't know a lot about this. It runs at 45% salt generation and at a minimum of 12 hours a day, more if it's a day we use it. I...
