Oval pool has buttresses and steel plates inset into the ground - level with the ground - under the liner- the sand will be needed to smooth over. Mfr says 3" base and 4" cove - . I'm thinking to use the sand from the old pool, and the 2 pads to make the 3" and the cove on top of that...

I am replacing a 15x30 above ground pool - The instructions say 3" sand and additional 4" for cove at walls. I am going to use sand and a new gorilla pad with foam cove - my old gorilla pad is still good - what do you think about placing the old pad on top of the sand and the new gorilla pad...
