Wood pool steps under a Vinyl Liner?

Hello - we're current receiving bids for a new vinyl liner for our inground pool and are having steps built so we can remove the metal ladders. One pool company quoted concrete/concrete block steps but another quoted wooden steps. Has anyone ever heard of steps made out of wood under a vinyl liner inground pool? I'm new to pool ownership so thought I should check as I've seen metal, fiberglass and concrete, but not wood.

Well that is a new one for me! Not sure I like the idea as there will be dirt/gravel behind and under the outside of the steps. We all know what that will do to the wood steps over time..........rot.

I've heard of some pools supported with wooden walls, so I suppose it's not crazy to think they could use it for steps as well. Not ideal in my mind, but there are some pools out there with wood supports.

Trex maybe.....I don't know if they have posts or not. I think either that or the wood is gonna flex too much and liners ain't cheap these days.

While certainly not a best construction practice, the liner will need replacing in 7-15 years, so they don't need to last forever.
