I’ve had my pool for about 25 years and, except for the early years, I’ve maintained it pretty good. This spring I went on vacation and the pool got away from me. Came back to algae infested green pool. I bombed it with chlorine but the problem, as I’ve since found out, was I was bombing it with sanitized chlorine. CYA went up and I think I fell into a chlorine lock. I’ve been trying to get it to maintain chlorine since (about 3 weeks now). I triple shocked it with cal-hypo about 4 days ago and it held chlorine for less than a day. The algae is under control, the CYA I’ve gotten down to 78 from 148 but still won’t hold chlorine. I seldom go to Leslies but have been lately to get my water tested. I’m suspect of their results because it’s always something different every time I go. I bought a Taylor K-2005 test kit from Amazon and it won’t be near until tomorrow. Any opinions on where to go next? I really want to avoid a prolonged SLAM if i can help it.
