Don't be buying baking soda and borax unless you know you need them. I have never added either to my pool. Your pool may never need them, either, but there's no way to know without test results. As I posted above, you know you'll need bleach and you know you'll need CYA, and that's all you know for sure.

That sounds like a plan to me!!!

Filling my pool up right now and lacks about 2 feet from me being able to turn on my pump. I went ahead and added a gallon of bleach. My readings are.
Fc 5
PH 8.3
Ta 300

I know I need to add muriatic acid but was waiting to turn my pump on to add it. By pool math I need to add 1 quart 3 cups and 7 oz. Do I need to add all of that or should I add some (maybe a quart) then wait 30 mins. and do a water test again.

You can add it all and stir the water with a leaf net or brush.
