Where should I add a water outlet?

Hi, I have a cartridge filter which does not have a waste outlet. I just changed the old valves to handy valves and realized I should take the opportunity to add a waste line. Based on the pic, where do you think I should add a valve for waste? Between pump and filter or after?

Thank you for the quick response. One quick follow on question. Can I add to the filter drain? The reasoning is I need to open the drain to clean the filter, so adding a valve would save some time. The drain also by passes the filter cartridge.
