What should I do? I keep it covered but it doesn't help much in this Texas heat. Partially emptying and refilling it defeats the purpose of having my own pool - I want to just be able to jump in after work.

Leave it uncovered! That's what's making it so hot.

Make a spray head attachment for your return. Other users have done this to great effect, keeping their pool cool enough to be refreshing in hot weather.

Cover in the day, no cover at night...reflective if anyone makes one.

I uncovered it and ran the filter (it has air in the return) for 24 hours and it cooled down from 101 to 90 which was perfect after work yesterday! I'll look into the sprayer - that looks like a fun project!

I was up to 92 yesterday...just where my life likes it, and just where it starts to feel like a bath to me. Yuk....I like a cool one to jump into after a 106 afternoon.

Ours has dropped to 78, due to cooler than normal overnight temps lately. Have the wood heater fired up -- got to go feed the beast! -- and the pool covered.

Even at that temp, it would feel good with air temp being in the low 70's.

Right about now, my son is wishing he had a pool! Lives in eastern WA, and are getting record highs over the next week.

Believe this?? 55 degrees. Was up to 77 and weather turned cold. Turned off heat pump 3 days ago kept frosting up and shutting off. Weather temps at 55 now. Who wants to swim in that!! Upside haven't lost any chlorine in 3 days. Sheesh.

GreatCanadian, yo are living in the wrong area. You need to come south a bit.....Just kidding! Had a couple of friends living up your way. Beautiful during the summer, but shoveling snow off the roof? One of them was doing that even in April a few years back.....

How would you open a pool with that kind of weather?

It's not normally this bad. We were swimming this time last year. Fantastic summer. Opened the pool last Saturday weather was okay. Rain and cold since then. A week earlier my buddy set his up. Same heater as me and twice the gallons in his pool (almost). Had his up to 86 in 3 days. Strange weather. Trust me. Been south twice so far this year and to come back to this crappy weather makes me want to move!! But it's a great place to raise children so I am thankful for that. Just turned on heater again this morning. Should be warmed up in a month!!

Yep we get some pretty wicked winters. But I love the snow as do my children. Just wish the winter was over before July this year!!

That 43k gallons of 93 degrees! So thankful I don't have a play pool
