What's your current pool temp?

Our pool has been in the 80's for a month now, and the oldest had her 18th birthday party on Saturday, the pool was 86. I didn't get the cover back on and it dropped to 80 degrees when I checked it on Sunday morning. Solar cover and solar panels have been in use since the end of February.

yesterday, 48 degrees but today it is up to 56 and with some warmer days yet to come should go up more.
I for one would like to thank TFP! last year had a nasty black swamp and it cost me near $500 in chemicals
and 2 1/2 months to clear. note just bought the house prior year and was a newby. so far this year I have a
clear pool and only added one gallon bleach and 40 lbs. salt......since September 2013 shut down.
should be a good year....

Mine hit 81 today with the solar heater, now if it will just stay there, this has been a LONG cold March, the pool hit 71 a month go then lost 10+ degrees with a couple of back to back late season cold fronts that dropped the lows into the upper 20's causing the freeze protect circulation on the solar panels to come back on.

Temp is 67 degree. I am thinking of buying a solar cover. For those who have solar cover, what color, thickness and which store do you recommend? What reel do you use?

I have a blue 12mil (I think). According to the forum, thickness really doesn't matter nor does the color. The solar cover is to keep the heat in at night. There is lots on the forum about buying and making reels. I am not gonna lie, solar covers are a pain to take off and put on, which makes a lot of people stop using them. However, I decided to simply cut my 14' cover into three strips and now, I no longer dread dealing with the cover.

This is strictly opinion with some analysis also. Ive read that a clear solar cover helps heat as it allows the sun to penetrate. It also helps hold heat. Kind of makes sense.

As for taking off and putting on, I have a cheap reel, do not remember the brand but I think it is very easy as long as two people are involved. Takes 20 seconds to put on and maybe 30 to take off.

Pool water temp hit 65°F today, as tested with my new ThermoPop digital thermometer. That temperature is at the threshold where I would normally start swimming, but wouldn't you know it, a cold front came through that will drop the temps for a few days. So, the wait continues...
