Our heater needs to be replaced this year and I sent pictures to our pool company and they asked why there are two conduits going into the heater. I'm guess he means these two lines (are there two gas lines) if so why would this be? Or is it something else, these are the pictures that I sent the pool company. Thanks!

Pipe and conduit on the left are gas and, possibly a conduit containing the heater control wire from the OmniLogic. On the right you have the water in and out, what appears to be a bond wire that is connected to the bond grid and an anode in the water, and the electrical supply. If the white wire on the right is heater control, then it is possible that the electric supply goes into the heater from the left and out the right to the rest of the equipment. That would be unusual, but I've seen it done that way twice. Only way to truly find out is to open the heater.

Karen,

Your heater does have two different electrical conduits. I would assume the one on the water end, is for your AC voltage in. I am not sure what the conduit on the gas end is for, but would assume the control signals from your automation.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you for the explanations. Do you know why there are two verticle lines coming out of the ground on the gas line?

Karen,

Not for sure, but they would not be called "conduits"..

I assume that gas comes in on one of the lines, and then back out on the other line to feed something else.. No matter what it is for, it should not make any difference in replacing the heater.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you. We do have gas going to a grill but I thought it T'd earlier in the line instead of going out and back. That would be strange.
