I see this stuff is recommended in the Wiki and on Jandy site for use with the diverter valves.

I bought some.

Can it be used for all my sch 40 “normal” pvc joints as well? I think I read that it can be, but thought I’d check with folks that have experience.

Will CPVC solvent cement work on a PVC piping installation?
Yes. CPVC solvent cement technically will work on PVC piping. However, we recommend that the correct Weld-On primer and PVC solvent cement for the particular application should be used. Please note that PVC solvent cement, because of temperature limitations, is not recommended for CPVC piping.

Good technique is important to getting a good solid joint including:

1) Full coverage with glue with no dry spots.

2) Full insertion with no backout.

3) Allowing plenty of time to cure.

4) good pipe fit.

5) No burrs.

In my opinion, allowing overnight to dry is always better than pressurizing the same day.

It is not necessary, but worthwhile if you can do it without too much trouble or cost.

I think I’ll return the weld on and grab the oatley all-purpose that I’ve used for years with 100% success and get after it.
