Weir Door Floating Position

Does it matter which way the weir door lays on the water? Weir door 1 seems to be the favorite but it sure is easier to get to and work the plastic retainer clips if they're on the "top" side as in weir door 2. weir door 1 looks better from inside the pool! Solid face. Both pictured with door inside the skimmer. And should the door in either position be able to go all the way vertical if the skimmer is full?

"weir door 1.jpg" is the preferred way.
It allows the smoothest, non-turbulent flow of water over the weir door.

Why do you need to work on the retainer clips?

I don't. Just talking to a friend and it came up to remove the door for scum cleaning. So I threw that in! Thanks!

Mine only goes one way- the water flows over the smooth side. It also looks like the jpg2 way may not allow it to fully close when the pump is off & allow debris from the skimmer back into the pool.
