Weather guard spa cover repair

Hi there,

Does anyone know how to repair torn polyester spa covers? What adhesive bonds best?

I’ve got a dream maker weatherguard cover on my hot tub. Documentation is hard to come by, but it seems to be a polyester fabric with urethane coating. It’s got the checker ‘rip stop’ pattern look.

I didn’t see anything specific in these forums on this topic but please add a link if you have!

Thanks!

Do you have an overlap on the tear to glue together?

No overlap, the tears are at the seams unfortunately. But I thought about buying a strip of polyester fabric large enough to overlap both sides of the seam, and glue it on. It would need to remain flexible for these locations. I am not so concerned how it looks compared to functionality of the repair..!

I would get the widest duct tape you can find and lay it over the seam. In effect the duct tape is your fabric patch with a strong adhesive on it. Or look for tarp repair tape.

I have been using duct tape to hold together my solid pool cover for years.

You can see some of the grey patches in the pic below...
