Hi all,

Recently I noticed water in my alleyway (usually after my pool stops running) and I suspect it may be from pool overflow as the water level is at the level of overflow drain. The water inside my autofill is higher than the float (pentair) and so I'm confused as to why there is extra water if my autofill doesn't seem to adding water in. I checked the meter for the water coming to the house and there doesn't seem to be a leak. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Turn the supply to the autofill off to see if the problem stops. Just because the water is high in the fill canister doesn't mean the valve has closed, they fail. The valve is, literally, a toilet flush valve.

What type/brand autofill do you have. The white Korky brand uses an inverted cup instead of a sealed float. The cup might be waterlogged, no trapped air under it, so it can't apply closing pressure to valve. Top cover snaps off easy, then the snapped on float cup, and put back on careful to not lose trapped air.

The fill bucket probably also has an overflow tied to main overflow, so the bucket overflow might be slightly lower than your main overflow, and the extra water is going out there.

Thanks. I don’t think I can turn off the auto fill unless I turn off the water from city going to the house. My auto fill looks like pentair that’s typically in toilets. What’s the fill bucket?

The canister that the valve is in.

Look for an "anti-siphon" sprinkler type valve somewhere near the pool. Most codes require them so pool water can't flow back into the domestic water system if the water company's system loses pressure. That should turn water off to the autofill.
