Water bonding Fitting question

Hi all,

My 2 year old saltwater pool has this water bonding fitting. My question is does this replace the need for a sacrificial anode? Thanks for your time. I'm a new pool owner and I'm slowly learning!

Water bonding and a sacrificial anode are two different functions. One does not substitute for the other.

There is rarely a need for a sacrificial anode in a modern pool.

What do you think a sacrificial anode will be protecting?
