Hey all. I just bought a Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF to replace my Hayward Northstar. After removing the Northstar it appears that the intake line doesn't match up. That being the case should I just shim up the pump with a piece of pressure treated lumber, or cut the lines and lower them? I have attached images so you can see the difference.

Also if I have to cut and lower the lines for the Skimmers, Spa drain, and Main drain. Will the water pressure force water out of the lines impeding me from being able glue on couplings? Thanks

I put a piece of carpet under my new pump when I did the change out.
If you open your pump basket top and no Water flows out then you should be fine if you wish to cut pipes.

It appears you don't have to make up much to line up the pump. It would be my choice to shim the pump up vs moving the lines.

Ok thanks. So you'd recommend cutting over shimming up the Pump?
I shimmed my pump with carpet rather than wood. I used a thick outdoor carpet i found at HD and cut it the size of the pump and it aligned with my existing inlet.

Agree with raising pump... I bet there's a 1/2" paver stone option at Home Depot that would make a nice solid base.
My DE filter sits on a 1.5" stone base from a previous switch from Jandy to Pentair.
