Vinyl step patch

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has any tips for patching this rip in my vinyl stairs? It's awkward where it is in the corner of my step.

Discovered it when opening the pool for the summer. First time pool owner, and pool/liner only used one season! Do you think this was caused by ice damage? (Cold
Climate). How do I prevent next year?

Update: cannot really get circular patch to fit, given shape of corner. Any suggestions?
