Vac line and Skimmer

Hi, I have a 12,000 gallon + pool. 14'. x 28'. I have a dedicated vacuum line and a skimmer. To use the vacuum line for cleaning my pool, should I turn off the skimmer line or leave that open? Is it ok to turn off the skimmer line when using the vacuum line as well? Any advice? Thanks.

Ad,

If the cleaner works well with the skimmer line wide open, then that is how you should run it.

In a lot of cases, the cleaner will not work, or not work well, with the skimmer wide open.

In some cases the pump cannot pull all the water it needs from just the vac line alone, so you have to open the skimmer a little.

How you set it up, depends on how your equipment works in your pool.
