I know the term "wall fitting" appears twice, but I think it refers to 2 different items.

My Polaris UWF broke off and took with it a piece of "wall fitting". My question is if all I need to do is somehow unscrew the remaining threaded "wall fitting" from the wall and screw in a new piece like this - AquaStar Large Wall Fitting with Threaded O.D. Fits 1-1/2" Pipe | White | ES102201

What would be the easiest way to remove the remaining part of the black "wall fitting"?

Thanks,

Ron

It depends on how much is left in the wall, which you didn't show us. If there's enough to grab onto, the easiest thing is to use the tool designed for that.

I cannot take a picture of what is left in the wall, because it is under water. The part that broke is what the diagram calls "pool wall" and I marked it in red.

The UWF removal tool won't work, as the fitting is already out of the wall.
I have used a hacksaw blade holder and saw 2 slots, about a half inch apart, into the broken fitting. Just deep enough slots to get through the male threads. Then pry that section out with a screwdriver.
Usually the rest will pry out (or back out) without much problem.

On farther examination, I think the part that broke is the "Waterway Gray Return Fitting for Gunite Pool" Waterway Gray Return Fitting for Gunite Pool, 1.5" FPT x 1.5" S - 215-9157B - INYOPools.com
It took a few bits of Gunite with it that are still glued to the thread on the outside, but it was slipped glue to the end of the 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe coming from the booster pump. I can feel the inside of the pipe with my finger and it is smooth as far as I can go. The part that is glued to the pipe is still there in the concrete. I figure my only choice is to break enough of the concrete, so I can carefully cut and use heat to soften and remove the fitting. If I can do it without damaging the pipe itself, then I can slip glue a new fitting and then repair the Gunite.

The what I have is the same as the Waterway image has the inside ring with the 4 notches, which is still in the wall in my case.

Is that about right?
