What are some of the uses you would have for an old/extra cartridge filter (not sure if size 48 but I think so), pool and non pool related if any. Was running just fine but warranty decided to replace everything. I was thinking an auxiliary filter attached to a 1.5hp pump.

If it is the exact same as what they put in new then use it for parts - especially the cartridge. Not sure why you need an auxiliary filter unless you had a separate spa from a pool or something similar. You could probably sell it to someone wanting to upgrade their filter like someone that may have an above ground pool.
