I've recently purchased a 8x16x42" Intex pool 3000gallon. Came with a 1000gph pump. If I upgrade the pump to a 2500gph would I cause any damage to the pump or pool liner? I believe I would need the type B adaptor that connects the lines 1.25" to 1.5"

Welcome to TFP! I don't think you would damage the pump or liner, but what catches my eye is the pool size (3,000 gallons). It falls into the category of what we would consider a seasonal pool. Basically much simpler maintenance as noted in the link below. Unless you get a larger pump for a cost of next to nothing, I wonder if it's really worth the investment? Certainly your call though if you want to push a bit more water and/or add a water fountain.
