Unknown floating equipment in filter

Hello as newbie on here

I have an AstralPool Cantabric filter with side mounted selector valve. Through the transparent lid I can see what looks like a centring ring (I only know this from exploded diagram in manual) floating around at the top.

What’s it’s purpose?
Where should it be located?

I can’t see any references to it in the manual or on online except to buy a replacement.

That looks like a piece of the Multiport Valve. It belongs under the handle where you change position (functions) of the pool such as "Circulate" or "Filter" "Backwash" etc.
Did anyone mess with your filter lately?

Thanks. It looks like part number 10 on that exploded diagram. The documentation is pretty poor and would be hard to install without prior knowledge. From that picture it just goes on the vertical pipe somewhere, but what would stop it just coming off again

It looks like there should be a diffuser and then the centering ring.

I would guess that the ring is designed to keep the inlet pipe centered in the filter.

The exploded diagram isn’t that exact. However, had someone replace the cracked lid and seal today and put the offending item in the correct place.
