I did a homegrown contraption a few years ago that connected some tubing into a return that I hooked up in a waterfall like arrangement. It worked okay but was pretty janky as a method to get the PH back up through aeration.
Needed to reduce TA from 100 to 60-70 before I add borates to my pool and wasn't too keen on the homebuilt stuff.

I ordered a pond bubbler and while not the cheapest it has worked really, really well.
Bought it on Amazon in case someone needs to reduce their TA and could use something like this. Amazon.com

It has now worked on two pools with success. I'm a fan. I got the pro, dual bubbler version.

Just for others who might read this: aeration raises pH, it doesn’t reduce TA.
To reduce TA, you lower pH using acid. To encourage pH to rise, aeration is helpful, though I’ve found that with high TA, a few days is all it takes!
