Hey All,
We moved in last year and it is our first time with a pool. With 20+ year-old plaster that is showing wear and such, we got a quote to redo plaster and some other optional items. What do you think?
Our pool is kidney-shaped and roughly 550 sq ft. Picture attached.
1. Empty Pool, Strip Pool, Clean and Seal Tile with soft blast method:$4,375
2. Structural Crack Repair (stainless staples with non-shirnk grout): $ 3,250
3. Wet Edge Altima Interior Plaster (white): $8,340
4. Chemical startup, pool brush head, easy-care start up kit and prake/pole: included
Now, the optional part includes gunite. Our pool is 8.5 feet deep. The added options are:
1. Shallow pool to 6.5 and make the transition to that smoother. Includes epoxy, rebar cage and all gunite work: $10,825
2. Deep end bench: Install 18'x8' long gunite bench: $1,290
He said our tile is actually in good shape. THey did a 6 inch tile then 3 inches more below it. Only 2 were hollow when he did a sound test. He said because the pool is flagstone, replacing the tile when it is in good shape COULD lead to more issues associated with the coping. He said the coping is in great shape and incurring those additional expenses are probably not worth it.
What do you guys think of these? While the water and energy savings of a shallower pool would be great and it seems like the time to do it, we may just do the necessary plaster/crack work. Still debating the pros and cons.
Thanks all!
