I was thinking, "With which test kit?", but Scott must have known what you meant. The following links should address your question. The first one is a 'HOW TO' article, the others are pH soil tests you can purchase. No idea which test of the many available is better.
Swimming pool PH tests are really only good between about 6.8 and 8.2, while soil PH varies over a much wider range (mostly lower). You could find out which side of the pool PH range the soil was on, but most likely you couldn't find out what the PH actually was because it would be out of range of the pool PH test.
Thank you for the replies. My nephew was making deisel last year and asked me how to measure ph. It rolled into voltage vs. visual. Can't do visual test without clear water. My bad, no is right.
