How obscured does the dot need to be when doing the CYA test? I feel like I can always faintly see it. I’ll typically take a number when it’s “pretty much gone” and then another when it’s “really almost completely gone” and then average the two.

In a well lit area, but protected from sunlight (back to the sun), fill to the tube to a line and glance at the dot, if you see the dot repeat, otherwise that is your CYA.

I fill to 100, check, fill to 90, check, and like that until the dot disappears. Just be careful, the brain can make think you can still see it when you really can’t. Then I pour the mix into the bottle and repeat the test to verify. I do this outside in a shady spot, the hard part is sky reflection.
