I have these two tabs on upper lip/edge of my skimmers that do not allow the skimmer baskets to fully seat, which is in turn allowing debris to make its way in between the basket and skimmer. Can I just shave these down with a dremel? Or any other suggestions on how to address this?

Are you using the correct skimmer basket? That appears that it’s designed to lock it in place.
