Suction Cup Damage Liner?

I have a thermometer tied to a suction cup which is stuck to my vinyl liner pool wall. Will the suction cup damage/stretch the liner over time? I'm worried that if I keep it there long, I will end up with a little bulge there. Should I be concerned? Anyone else have experience with suction cups on the liner?

I have not even tried that. I will tell you that I don't leave my thermometer in my pool any more as it started growing algae inside it Now I just put it in for a few to see the temp then take it back out.

So for anyone who is curious, no noticeable stretching where the suction-cup is attached to the liner. And the robot has not tried to eat it (yet).
