We just go thru the first month of our PebbleSheen. Salt and SWG was just started up. Noticed that the PH has been creeping up everyday and will probably be doing so for the next year.

Would like to start adding borates to help stabilize the PH. Are there any thoughts on starting borates with new pebble sheen finish. Any Cons with using borates having toddlers?

Is there a recommend startup guide?

Wait a year until everything else is settled down before adding borates, especially TA and PH, and you have a good understanding of how your pool chemistry works.

Borates is not a magic bullet for keeping pH in check.

Thank you. It looks like adding it would be too bad. It seems like the benefit for us out weight the cons. Im trying to do some research if the borates would hurt the fresh plaster.

No, borates will not hurt fresh plaster.

What is the pH and TA of your fill water?

Post a complete set of your current chemistry from YOUR test kit...

Fill water ( June 28th)
PH - 7.5
TA - 80

As of last night:
FC - 3.7
CC - 0
pH - 7.3 (after adding acid)
TA - 100
CH - 250
CYA - 50
SALT - 3400

Let your TA get down to 60.

Try lowering your pH to 7.6-7.8 once your TS gets down around 70. Your pool will stay at 7.3 for a few minutes and rapidly rise.

Based on the recommendation of the last two post it would seem to contradict Pebbletec recommendation.

Yes we do. And you will need to decide who you want to follow.

You will find PebbleTec's recommendations almost impossible to achieve on a day to day basis.

You cannot keep the pH that low with the TA that high.

And the FC recommendations are too low for the CYA recommendations.

You can try and discuss with PebbleTec why they recommend what they do. TFP can explain the science behind the ....

If you choose to try and follow PebbleTec we will be here when you throw up your hands in frustration.
